The October Gold Star Mother's meeting is held at the Evans Home, hosted by the Evans Home Legion Auxiliary members beginning at 7:00 pm. Annual Fund Raising Bake Sale is held on the first Friday in February at the Legion Hall. The money raised is for sholarships for the graduating class of Crestwood High School.

Description: The Cresco area is recognized throughout Iowa as having the best snowmobile trail system in the state. Snowmobiling on the groomed trail system that connects 13 communities with Cresco is one of the joys of the winter season. More than 350 miles of marked trails branch out from Cresco like spokes on a wheel. These trails, developed over a 25-year period by the Cresco Driftrunners Snowmobile Club, enable the traveler to journey down the beautiful river valleys of the Upper Iowa and Turkey rivers. Less than 15% of the trails are in road ditches. The Driftrunners' trail system winds across rivers and streams, utilizing specially constructed bridges designed only for snowmobiles, through large tracts of timber, over the rolling fields of northeast Iowa. Although snowmobiling is popular throughout the winter, it is king (and queen) in late January when the Driftrunners host their annual Snowfest celebration.

Description: The Howard County Conservation Board provides the public with approximately 2,00 acres in 35 county conservation managed areas, helping to conserve our natural rescources, providing recreational opportunites and preserving scenic sites so that present and future generations may enjoy them forever. Along with these areas the HCCB also operates the Prairie's Edge Nature Center that is located approximately 2 miles south of Cresco. Nature center and HCCB office hours are Mondy-Friday 8:00 am-12:00 pm and 1:00 pm-4:00 pm and Sundays from 12:00 pm-4:00 pm.
