Nursery: In our nursery, we provide childcare services to children aged 6 weeks to 18 months. A daily record is kept of the child's activities, including feedings, naps, diaper changes, activities and any other information we think you might want to know. Infants are held, cuddled, rocked, played with, read to, and involved in stimulating age-appropriate activities. We follow the DHS Standards for Child Care Centers concerning diapering and disinfecting cribs and toys. These guidelines are posted near the changing tables. The same adult will care for the infant as much as possible, to create a sense of security. Kessel will provide formula and bottles. Please notify the staff/director of what your child needs.

The nursery is seperated from the mobile side to the non-mobile side. This makes activities time easier for all ages.

Toddler Room: In our toddler room, we provide childcare for children 16 months to 3 years old. Due to Kessel's large amount of enrolled toddlers, we have divided the room into two rooms, to esnure that each child has lots of one-to-one attention. On one side of the room the children are under the age of two, and on the other side are the two year olds. We provide age appropriate activities, including circle time, stories, art activities, games, songs, fingerplays, and playtime. We include experiences that acquaint the child with colors, numbers, and shapes. When signs of readiness for toilet training are shown, we work with the parent to assist in this process.

2 Year Old Room: 2 - 3 years old. We provide many age-appropriate activities including coloring, reading outside play, working with fine and gross motor skills.

Preschool: Kessel Kids provies preschool to children ages 3-5. We have one room of 3 year old preschoolers and the other is for 4-5 year olds. Activities planned in these rooms are centered around weekly themes and follow a more structured program. Children will have the opportunity to participate in many activities that will help with social skills and focus on music, art, science, math, large and small motor skills, and others. Classes try to incorporate as many local field trips as possible. Kessel Kids also works with the school system to enhance school readiness. (Note: there will be a $10/month preschool fee for supplies.)

Before/After: Kessel Kids has a large before and after school program. The Howard-Winneshiek School System currently picks children up by bus on 3 different trips to school and 2 trips back in the afternoon. We try to take advantage of the outdoors as much as possible. We provide care for school-age children before and after school, during the summer, and during days when school is canceled due to inclement weather, inservice days, and holiday vacations.

Kessel Kids has also adopted the after school which is not called Kessel Cares. The rates are as follows:
