What Your Child Should Bring to Kessel Kids

Each child should bring the following:

  • A complete change of seasonal clothing, clearly labeled with your child's name, that can be kept at the center in case of accidents
  • Appropriate outdoor wear. We try to go outside every morning and afternoon, weather permitting. (In the winter, the windchill must be above ten degrees.) In the winter, children need to wear winter coats, snowpants, boots, mittens, and hats, all clearly labeled with your child's name.
  • Disposable diapers. Most parents find it convenient to bring a whole bag of diapers to be left at the center and used as needd. A staff member will notify you when more diapers are needed. Disposable diapers are used at the center due to sanitary reasons.
  • Diaper wipes. Please send us a box of wipes to be used as needed. Label with your child's name. A staff member will notify you when more are needed.
  • Formula will be provided by Kessel Kids. Please notify the director or the nursery staff of the type of bottle your child uses so that we may provide one. The bottle will remain at Kessel and be cleaned and sanitized nightly. Please notify the staff of the type of formula and when that changes. A bottle will be provided for breast milk, but you may provide your own. Some freeze space is available for breast milk.
  • Baby food will also be provided at Kessel Kids. Please notify the staff when your child starts on solids. As part of the Child Care Food Program, we cannot serve foods that combine two food groups. For example, we can't serve Turkery Rice baby food, because we don't know how much is turkey and how much is rice.
  • When you child is toilet training we ask the parents to either povide training pants or pull-ups. Clothing training pants are preferred, but we also use the disposable pull-ups. Several changes of clothes should be sent each day as your child is being trained. Soiled clothes will be sent home at the end of the day for laundering. Parents should notify the staff if they feel their child is ready to be toilet rain.
